Plans and limits: sends, capacity and pricing

Learn what counts as a send, what each BIP Lite tier costs, how monthly capacity works and what changes on the free plan and on BIP Full.

Quick answer

BIP Lite charges per send, not per stored contact. You get 1,000 free sends per month; on the paid plan you choose from 5,000 to 500,000 sends per month and pay for the whole volume at its tier price, with 4.5% off on the annual plan. A campaign without enough capacity doesn't go out. Flows and Forms are on BIP Full.

EffortNo-codePlanFree

On BIP Lite you pay for what you send, not for the size of your list. Store 100,000 contacts and talk only to the ones who matter: your bill is based on sends. Start with 1,000 free sends per month and buy more volume when you need it.

What you need

  • A BIP account (the free plan works)
  • The counts of the segments you use in campaigns
  • A payment method, if you're buying the paid plan

What you'll get

  • Know what uses sends and what's free.
  • Choose the right capacity for your volume, on the monthly or the annual plan.
  • Track usage in real time and never have a campaign stall for lack of capacity.
  • Know what changes between the free plan, paid BIP Lite and BIP Full.

How it works

  1. 1You have a monthly send capacity
  2. 2Each campaign send uses capacity
  3. 3Capacity goes back to full every month

What a send is

A send is one email or one WhatsApp message to one person. Both channels count the same.

ActionCounts as a send?
Each contact in a One-time or Recurring campaign, by email or WhatsAppYes, 1 per contact
Each contact processed by an API Trigger campaignYes, 1 per contact
Each contact in a webhooks-only campaign, with no emailYes, 1 per contact
Webhooks sent along with the campaign emailNo: only the contact's send counts
Test CampaignNo
Delayed API Trigger canceled before its timeNo
Contact held back by the Lead Re-entry Window in an API TriggerNo
Importing, storing and segmenting contactsNo
Using the API to create and update contacts or record eventsNo

How capacity is used

  • One-time or Recurring campaign: before starting, BIP adds up the count of each selected segment and deducts that total from your capacity in one go. In a Recurring campaign, this repeats every time it runs.
  • API Trigger: each contact deducts 1 send when the campaign is processed for them. With a delay set, this happens when the delay ends.

If the remaining capacity doesn't cover the total, the campaign doesn't go out. BIP doesn't send to some people and leave the rest out: it goes to everyone or to no one.

When capacity comes back

Capacity is monthly. On the free plan, the 1,000 sends are good for one month from the start of the period and then start over. On the paid plan, capacity goes back to full every month, on the annual plan too. Whatever is left in one month doesn't roll over to the next.

Step by step

1. Check your plan and usage

  1. On BIP Lite, the Usage card at the bottom of the sidebar shows Used (how much of the limit you've used), Remaining and the percentage used. The bar turns yellow from 75% and red from 90%.
  2. Click the card or go to Settings → Billing.
  3. Under Current Plan, see the plan name, how much you can send per month and the price (Free on the free plan).
  4. Check Capacity Usage, Billing Period and Usage Period (the current month of capacity).

2. Work out the capacity you need

  1. In Segments, open each segment you use in campaigns and note the live count.
  2. For each campaign, multiply the count by the number of sends in the month. A weekly newsletter to 3,200 contacts comes to 4 × 3,200 = 12,800.
  3. Add the API triggers you expect in the month, like welcome messages and reminders.
  4. Choose a capacity a little above the total. If the sum comes to 13,500, buy 15,000.

There's a ready-made spreadsheet in Ready to copy.

3. Buy paid BIP Lite

  1. Click Upgrade Now, at the bottom of the sidebar or in Settings → Billing, in the Get Started box. BIP opens the Customer Portal.
  2. Under Email quantity, drag the slider to your monthly capacity, from 5,000 to 500,000, in steps of 1,000. The badge next to it shows the price per 1,000. The capacity covers both email and WhatsApp.
  3. Choose Monthly (Billed monthly) or Yearly (Billed anually, with 4.5% off) and click Select Monthly or Select Yearly.
  4. In Proceed to Checkout, check Email quantity, Billing Period, Annual Discount (on the annual plan) and Total.
  5. Click Continue to Checkout and finish on the secure payment page. At the end, you're taken back to the Billing tab.

With the paid plan, the namespace unlocks WhatsApp campaigns and your own sending domain.

4. Manage your subscription

  1. In Settings → Billing, in the Manage Billing box, click Open Customer Portal. It opens in a new tab so you can update your payment method, see invoices and manage your subscription.
  2. In Billing History, see the Invoice Payment entries (with View Invoice) and the Capacity Usage entries (how much each use took from the limit).
  3. If the subscription is canceled, the Subscription Canceled box shows the cancellation date and the date it ends. After that, the namespace goes back to the free plan, with 1,000 sends per month. You can subscribe again whenever you want.

  • Each namespace has its own plan, its own capacity and its own billing.
  • On the paid plan, your capacity is what you chose. The 1,000 free sends aren't added to it.
  • On BIP Full, the Usage card and the Billing tab don't appear: terms are agreed with the BIP team, who handles the activation.

BIP Lite pricing

The whole volume is billed at the price of the tier it falls in. With 20,000 sends per month, all 20,000 are billed at the 10,001 to 50,000 tier price: 20 × $2.15 = $43.00 per month. Prices are in US dollars (USD).

Capacity spreadsheet

Copy, paste into a spreadsheet and replace the numbers with yours. The last column is contacts × sends in the month; its sum is the capacity you need.

In this Padaria Aurora example, the total is 16,700. A capacity of 18,000 covers the month with room to spare and falls in the 10,001 to 50,000 tier: 18 × $2.15 = $38.70 per month.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if capacity runs out mid-month?

Campaigns that need more sends than you have left don't go out until capacity comes back, next month. If you need it sooner, adjust your subscription in Settings → Billing → Open Customer Portal.

Does a WhatsApp message count the same as an email?

Yes. In BIP capacity, each WhatsApp message to one person is one send, just like an email. WhatsApp campaigns are available on the paid plan.

Does storing lots of contacts cost more?

Not on BIP Lite. Importing, storing and segmenting contacts doesn't use sends. You pay for the send capacity you choose.

Can I test without using sends?

Yes. Test Campaign doesn't use sends, and the free plan has 1,000 sends per month, renewed every month, with no card required.
